'Suicide Squad' Is Messy and Utterly Pointless

It is no secret that Warner Bros. is already eating dust when it comes to successfully bringing out DC Comics' characters onto the big screen that aren't named Batman or Superman. And that should come as no surprise, seeing how Suicide Squad is littered with glaring cliches and doesn't have the slightest clue of where its headed.

My Top 10 Movies of 2015

Another year has come to a close and because of that it's time for a top 10 list of best movies in 2015. In my opinion it has been a great year for movies. While the market was pretty much dominated by big franchise sequels, a lot of them were really good and the diversity in genres is much appreciated (not much superhero movies this time).

Movie Review: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America is seemingly the least liked among the Avengers. His first Marvel Studios's film, Captain America: The First Avenger, while a solid World War II superhero action flick, only had a mediocre reaction from the general audience. In his appearance in 2012's The Avengers, he wore a "bright spangly outfit" as Tony Stark said, mocking him. Certainly Captain America is a bit lacking in the "cool" department. The only things he have going for him are his morals and principles and his shield.

All that will change as Captain America: The Winter Soldier is more than just a superhero film. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo take the star-spangled superhero into a more serious direction and dive him into a world full of deceit and espionage.

The LEGO Movie Blooper Reel Is... Cute

Yes, cute is the right word. If you haven't seen The LEGO Movie yet, too bad. But at least you'll get to see the blooper reel.

Warner Bros. follows the footsteps of Toy Story and other animated blockbusters with a blooper reel. Most of the outtakes show Batman missing his lines and set backdrops falling on the actors. Watch this blooper reel if you want to brighten up your day.

Movie Review: The LEGO Movie

Originally being just children's toys to having limited edition exclusive releases, and even to having their own amusement park, LEGO sure has come a long way.

If you have played some of the LEGO video games that have come out, the CG cutscenes are very well-made, accompanied with tongue-in-cheek humor. The LEGO Movie takes all of that and adds something more that makes its debut theatrical film a hit with the audience.

Paul Bettany Cast As The Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Avengers: Age of Ultron's cast is slowly building up, as Paul Bettany has been cast to portray the group's android member, The Vision.

In case you are not the type who pays attention to movie credits, Bettany is voice of J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony Stark's personal computer system, in all three Iron Man films and 2012's The Avengers.

The fact that Bettany will play The Vision is most likely a hint of a connection between J.A.R.V.I.S. and the android. It seems likely that Tony Stark builds The Vision and transplants J.A.R.V.I.S. into it giving him a fully body, instead of going for the comic book origin where Ultron himself built The Vision as a "synthezoid."

Also in the comics version, Vision had a romance with Scarlet Witch, who is also appearing in the sequel, played by Elisabeth Olsen.

Written and directed by Joss Whedon, Avengers: Age of Ultron is scheduled to open in May 2015.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Super Bowl Extended Trailer Actually Feels Like Spider-Man

Some say 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man didn't feel very Spider-Man-y at all. Most comments say it's too dark and gritty for a Spider-Man film, and most importantly it doesn't have soul. Or maybe the general audience is just comparing it to Sam Raimi's trilogy too much.

In any case, the sequel's extended trailer released during the Super Bowl by Sony Pictures features a more light-hearted, banter-rific Spidey, just the way we love him.

Lots of Conspiracy and Glass Shattering in This Captain America: The Winter Soldier Trailer

It's Super Bowl time in the US again, and for movie buffs that means lots and lots of new trailers. This time Marvel has debuted a new trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier featuring lots of new footage, specifically a lot more Winter Soldier.

Jesse Eisenberg Cast As Lex Luthor; Jeremy Irons As Alfred in Superman/Batman Film

Warner Bros. has officially announced Jesse Eisenberg to play Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth in the as of yet untitled Superman/Batman film, the sequel to 2013's Man of Steel.

It has been rumored that Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston would play Luthor, who looks great for the part by the way. But with Eisenberg's casting, it's pretty obvious that director Zack Snyder is going for a younger, fresh-looking, and less-menacing Lex Luthor.

Thomas Jane Returns as the Punisher in Dirty Laundry

In 2004, Thomas Jane starred in the movie The Punisher based on the character of the same name. However, it wasn't as well-received as the other Marvel movies because of its poor script even though Jane gave a great performance. Now he returns in a fan film that sort of serves as a "sequel", titled Dirty Laundry.

Directed by Phil Joanou, Thomas Jane stars as Frank Castle/Punisher when he witnesses a gang harrasing citizens in the street while he does his laundry. Ron Perlman (Hellboy) also stars as a handicapped store owner.

"Green Lantern" WonderCon 2011 Trailer

In case you missed the first trailer of "Green Lantern", the recently held WonderCon 2011 premiered an exclusive trailer for the movie. This one is MUCH longer than the first trailer, clocking in at 4 minutes! In fact, I don't know if you could still call this a trailer.

This trailer contains a lot of new footage of other members of the Green Lantern Corps, including Sinestro, Abin Sur, Tomar-Re, and Kilowog. We also get a glimpse of a dirt-looking creature that attacks Abin Sur, maybe it's Parallax?

Meet the New Superman!

The comic book community has been buzzing lately with news of a newly-cast actor as Superman for the Zack Snyder reboot movie. Meet Henry Cavill and he's British, and that's about everything I know of him. Kinda funny a British actor will play an American character, eh?

As for the looks, he certainly got the hair and the face for Clark Kent. He just needs to be a bit bigger to play as Superman. But I don't know why they had to replace Brandon Routh. I didn't like "Superman Returns", but I definitely thought Routh was a good choice as Superman.

Oh well, I trust Zack Snyder and his decisions as he somewhat accurately directed comic book movies such as "300" and "Watchmen".
