Disney Buys Lucasfilm, More Star Wars Movies

By now you've heard of the news about Disney buying Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, and with it comes an announcement of a new Star Wars movie - Star Wars: Episode VII - to be release in 2015. But to be honest, has anyone not seen this coming? I mean, a Star Wars ride has been in Disneyland for many, many years. And what could this do for the franchise?

The last Star Wars movie we've seen was Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, which was released way back in 2005. It would certainly be great to see another epic Star Wars film in theaters. However, it would be best for the new movie, or trilogy if they plan one, to create new stories. I don't want to see the characters of Luke, Leia, and Han in the new movies without the original actors. So a new story is the best way to go here.

The Star Wars universe is a big, big world. There's still a lot of untold stories left to be explored judging from all the books, comics, and cartoons that have spun-off from the movies. In fact, they could even go the route of another prequel trilogy, basing it from the Old Republic. There's also the possibility they could go on with where the franchise left off and make the new trilogy about the children of Luke Skywalker, or the children of Leia and Han. From there, they could even do some fanservice and cast the original actors reprising their roles.

Well, at least George Lucas seems fine with it now that he's planning to retire. Although he's retiring, he will still serve as a creative consultant for the new movies.
