Shelf O'Collection (12/29/2008)

Here's my collection shelf, updated 12/29/2008. I can say a lot has changed.

The first level was pretty much the same - Dragon Ball, Marvel/DC mini-figures, and Silver Surfer mini-statue.

Now moving on to the 2nd level - Marvel/DC busts.

On this shelf are Iron Spider-Man, black suit Spider-Man, Thor, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), and Green Lantern (Alan Scott). My favorite so far is the black suit Spider-Man, then Thor.

3rd level contains my Classic Marvel Figurines (lead) and some DC mini-statues and Spawn. In other words, full body statues.

That Batman mini-statue still kicks ass.

Since the 4th level is empty, let's go to the 5th level - Gundams.

MG Gundam Mk. II Titans, MG RX-78 Gundam, MG Wing Gundam Zero Custom, and HG Destiny Gundam.

Top shelf contains toys from my childhood.

And across the shelf, nothing has changed.

So there you go. 'Til next time, ciao!

Bowen Symbiote Spider-Man Mini-Bust

After a long time, I finally got a new bust. I've always wanted a new one since my last haul, which was the Iron Spider-Man bust. Yay! This is the Symbiote Spider-Man bust by Bowen. Teril gave me this as a gift. I love her. ^^

I've been looking for this bust ever since I got into collecting statues and busts. This is hard to find actually locally, since it was already released like a year ago. So I really appreciate the trouble Teril went through in purchasing this bust. ^^

As you all know, Spider-Man is my favorite superhero. During the course of his career, he has donned a lot of costumes. And the black suit has been one of the most used and popular suit Spidey has ever used, next to the classic red and blue. Peter wears the suit from time to time (without the symbiote of course. Pete has a spandex version that is super safe from alien harm). The most recent one was in the Spider-Man arc - Back in Black.

Classic Marvel Figurine Collection #13: Daredevil

The man without fear - Daredevil.

Daredevil has always been one of my favorite Marvel superheroes. I've always liked the fact that he's blind, and a street level hero at that, much like Spider-Man (except for the blind part). They're best friends after all. They're the best of friends that they even share villains!

Daredevil is a hero who truly fights for justice. He's a lawyer! And I have to say, his life is more messed up than Spider-Man. If you thought Spidey got the worst of it, take a look at DD.

Classic Marvel Figurine Collection #77: The Sentry

Introducing the man with the power of a million exploding suns - The Sentry.

The first time I saw The Sentry in New Avengers, I didn't have a freaking clue who the hell he was. But he was an interesting character nonetheless. The more I read of him, the more interesting he became. You see, Sentry is the Marvel counterpart for Superman. Meaning he is the most powerful hero in the Marvel Universe.

But there's a catch. His main nemesis, The Void, is his other half. It's like Superman and Bizarro, Flash and Reverse Flash, but in one body. Thus, he became schizophrenic. The Sentry is so powerful that he's become scared of himself. I like him anyways.

Shove off, Daredevil. This is my spotlight.

My Top 5 Anime Songs

I've dug up some of my anime songs that I used to listen to back then. I watch less anime now, but I still am a bit updated on the songs that come out. Sadly, the new anime songs of today aren't all that catchy and lasting anymore. There are still some but they're quite a few. While I'm feeling nostalgic, I present to you my top 5 anime songs that I have always loved.

Number 5: Combattler V (Combattler V opening)
Why I like it: Combattler V is my favorite Super Robot of all time. And its opening song is really catchy, and really lives up to the convention of Super Robot themes.

Number 4: Taiyou ga Mata Kagayaku Toki by Takahashi Hiro (Yu Yu Hakusho 4th ending)
Why I like it: If you're just chilling, or simply relaxing, you can listen to this song. The guitar strumming and the mellow voice will keep you warm inside for a long time. And it also sounds happy and content

Number 3: Namida wa Shitte Iru by Mayo Suzukaze (Rurouni Kenshin 2nd ending)
Why I like it: Another chilling song, the melody is what strikes me. Combined with the great voice (also the seiyuu of Kenshin), it will put a smile in your face. The full version is much better, especially the intro.

Number 2: Aoi no Requiem by Tsubokura Yuiko (Samurai Deeper Kyo opening)
Why I like it: I actually never watched the anime. I didn't like it much, but the song rocks. The tone and construction of the song really goes well with the anime. And the intro will get stuck in your head, at least it did with mine.

And the number 1 spot goes to: Kimi Sae Ireba by DEEN (Cooking Master Boy 2nd opening)
Why I like it: It brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it.

So there you go. I always listen to these songs when I feel nostalgic and happy. :D

Classic Marvel Figurine Collection #76: Ms. Marvel

It's been a while since I bought a new figurine. Anyway here's my latest in my collection: Ms. Marvel.

Ms. Marvel is my first female superhero figure in my collection. She has made her mark in the Marvel Universe and became one of the most respected members of the Avengers.

She has this thing that separates her from other females in the MU. She has fought many supervillains alone and survived through it, without the help of men. And I like her costume. :D

I just took these pics from my phone's camera so they're a bit crappy.

Bullpen Bits

I reminisced and re-read my old comic books during my childhood that I found still stacked in my old cabinet. It was very nostalgic reading them again. The smell of old paper, the feel of old paper, and the classic art in the comics just made me feel young again. Good thing I still kept those. But the one thing that I missed from the these old comics was a mini-comic strip called Bullpen Bits.

Bullpen Bits is comic strip that ran weekly in various Marvel comics back around 1999-2000. All the strips were created and drawn by Chris Giarrusso. The strips featured kid counterparts of various Marvel characters. But most of the strips feature the beloved Avenger, Hawkeye.

Anyway, I found the official website where all of these comics strips can be viewed. Here are some of my favorites. But you can check them all here if you want.

Click the strips for a larger view. Read them, they're cute!

Classic Marvel Figurine Collection #71: Quicksilver

The rebellious son of Magneto: Pietro Maximoff.

What can I say, I'm currently watching the "Wolverine and the X-Men" cartoon and X-Men hype has taken over me again. And Quicksilver's one of the few guys that showed up in the first few episodes. I wonder why his power is super speed when his father's the master of magnetism.

My outfit looks gay.
