First Look At Grant Gustin As The Flash

It's always been a touchy issue among comic book fans when it comes to superhero costumes in live action adaptations. Usually the costumes are altered radically that it looks totally different than comics version and upsets the fans most of the time. But with the revealed costume for the upcoming The Flash pilot it's looking so far so good.

Warner Bros. Television has released a head shot of actor Grant Gustin in costume for the upcoming TV series The Flash based on the DC Comics speedster. Gustin already appeared as Flash's civilian identity, Barry Allen, in two episodes of Arrow.

From what's been revealed so far, it seems the costume will be a faithful adaptation of the classic, iconic look fans have gotten to love in the comic books. Gustin is wearing a full mask complete with the New 52 chin guard and lightning earpieces. This is certainly an interesting development as Arrow tried to stray away from Green Arrow's traditional costume, and Smallville never featured Clark Kent in a Superman costume. Also note that the Green Arrow and the Flash appeared in Smallville wearing "modernized" costumes.

The pilot for The Flash is written by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and current DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns and directed by David Nutter. The series is based on the DC Comics superhero the Flash (Barry Allen) and set to air on The CW. Production of the series will begin next week.
