Marvel Unveils Spider-Verse, Featuring "Every Spider-Man Ever"

Marvel recently teased an image of Spider-Man in his traditional red and blue costume with several webbed silhouttes beside him. In a live press call on Monday, Superior Spider-Man writer Dan Slott and senior editor of the Spider-Man title Nick Lowe announced a new Spider-Man event called Spider-Verse that will feature "every Spider-Man ever." Yes, including Spider-Ham!

The event will kick off November 2014 in Amazing Spider-Man #9, written by Dan Slott with art duties by Oliver Coipel. A special five-page lead-in story in the Free Comic Book Day Guardians of the Galaxy issue will serve as a "first real taste of Spider-Verse."

Slott promised every Spider-Man ever will show up, and also a few new ones we've never seen before. "It's a Spider-Man story on a scale we have never seen before. Epic in its scope," the writer adds. And he isn't kidding. Based on the Gabriel Dell'Otto promotional art, we see Spider-Man 2099 (who is currently stuck in the present timeline), 1602 Spider-Man, MC2 Spider-Girl, Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales, and even the original Scarlet Spider Ben Reilly!

With Superior Spider-Man set to end in May with issue #31, Slott and Lowe was asked if SpOck will be included in the event. However, Lowe didn't confirm his appearance and kept mum about the topic.

An old villain will be back as well. Slott states, "It's someone we haven't seen in spider-titles in a while, but whenever they show up, you're guaranteed a slobberknocker of epic proportions." Then shortly revealing that it's Morlun, a villain created by J. Michael Straczynski and John Romita Jr. during their Amazing Spider-Man run. He is set to appear as the "initial antagonist" in the story and teased as being "part of an even bigger thing."

Describing Morlun as a "top 10" Spider-Man villain, senior editor Lowe adds, "He always kicks the crap out of Spider-Man, and Spider-Man, I feel like, is never closer to defeat than when he's facing Morlun. This is the biggest Morlun story you've ever seen."

Spider-Verse will debut in November's Amazing Spider-Man #9 by Dan Slott and Oliver Coipel and will run through six issues, with tie-ins set to appear as well.
