Before the movie opens in Philippine theaters on March 26, I recommend reading the comics that the film is based on. Written by Ed Brubaker with art by Steve Epting, this story introduces the Winter Soldier and also started what eventually became a historical run for the creative team on Captain America comics.
And just in time for the movie, the whole Winter Soldier story arc is being released this week by Marvel in an oversized deluxe hardcover edition packed with extras.
The Winter Soldier is one of my favorite Captain America stories. Brubaker gave it the right balance of suspense and thriller, as a result turning the comic series into a somewhat superhero spy/espionage book. Coupled with Steve Epting's fantastic art which definitely added more depth to the overall feel of the story, it's just right that this story is translated into film.
