The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Super Bowl Extended Trailer Actually Feels Like Spider-Man

Some say 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man didn't feel very Spider-Man-y at all. Most comments say it's too dark and gritty for a Spider-Man film, and most importantly it doesn't have soul. Or maybe the general audience is just comparing it to Sam Raimi's trilogy too much.

In any case, the sequel's extended trailer released during the Super Bowl by Sony Pictures features a more light-hearted, banter-rific Spidey, just the way we love him.

Lots of Conspiracy and Glass Shattering in This Captain America: The Winter Soldier Trailer

It's Super Bowl time in the US again, and for movie buffs that means lots and lots of new trailers. This time Marvel has debuted a new trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier featuring lots of new footage, specifically a lot more Winter Soldier.

Watch the trailer after the jump.

Jesse Eisenberg Cast As Lex Luthor; Jeremy Irons As Alfred in Superman/Batman Film

Warner Bros. has officially announced Jesse Eisenberg to play Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth in the as of yet untitled Superman/Batman film, the sequel to 2013's Man of Steel.

It has been rumored that Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston would play Luthor, who looks great for the part by the way. But with Eisenberg's casting, it's pretty obvious that director Zack Snyder is going for a younger, fresh-looking, and less-menacing Lex Luthor.

Kotobukiya Superman ARTFX 1/6 Statue

Kotobukiya finally released an ARTFX statue for Superman after success with Batman and The Joker. And it does not disappoint! This is the best Superman statue on the market, and it goes great with Batman.

The statue is based on the art of Jim Lee, specifically the story arc For Tomorrow written by Brian Azarello.

Note: I already took out Superman out of the box in the picture on the right. And I was too lazy to put him back. Hit the jump for the rest of the pictures.

Kotobukiya Batman ARTFX 1/6 Statue (Black Costume Re-release)

Back in 2005, Kotobukiya released a PVC statue of Batman (blue costume) inspired by the art of Jim Lee. It immediately became a hit among collectors. Years later, Kotobukiya released a black costume version of the same statue. And now they re-released the same statue as a companion piece to the recently released Superman ARTFX statue.

Needless to say, it is certainly one of the best Batman statues out there. I think only the Sideshow Batman Premium Format statue comes close.

After the jump comes more pictures.

MG 1/100 Gundam Deathscythe Hell EW

It's been a while since I purchased a Gundam model kit, and I thought I was done with it. But with the release of the MG Gundam Deathscythe Hell EW, this hobby just pulled me right back in.

The Deathscythe Hell Custom is one of my favorite Gundams so I just had to have it. To be honest, the first Gundam series I ever watched was G Gundam. Gundam Wing and its OVA Endless Waltz only came next. Although its story leaves a lot to be desired, the Gundams still give me a sense of nostalgia.

Anyway enough blabbering and onto the model kit.

RJ London Vs. Tamiya TS Spray Paints for Gunpla

Gunpla modeling is an expensive hobby. That's why modelers are always trying out cheaper alternatives that not only would finish the job but also make the finished product look really good. Case in point: cheaper paints.

I tried out some RJ London spray paints since Tamiya spray paints are expensive. Not to mention they're only available in 100 ml rattle cans. Anyway, the one on the left is sprayed with RJ London silver grey and  dull lacquer on top. The one on the right is sprayed using a Tamiya TS-66 IJN Gray (Kure Arsenal).

As you can see, the one on the left looks glittery and has frosting-like material all over it. On the other hand the part sprayed with Tamiya looks clean, smooth, and has a matte finish. I don't know if this is just a case of old spray cans that expired, or probably because RJ London paints are made for other stuff (like hardware, etc.), or I'm just an idiot. One thing's for sure, though. I won't be using RJ London paints for a while. Besides, Tamiya paints are especially packaged for model kits has yet to fail me.

Disney Buys Lucasfilm, More Star Wars Movies

By now you've heard of the news about Disney buying Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, and with it comes an announcement of a new Star Wars movie - Star Wars: Episode VII - to be release in 2015. But to be honest, has anyone not seen this coming? I mean, a Star Wars ride has been in Disneyland for many, many years. And what could this do for the franchise?

End of an Era: Captain America #19

Writer: Ed Brubaker
Penciller: Steve Epting

It has been almost 9 years since Ed Brubaker started writing the relaunch of Captain America's fifth volume. Along with Steve Epting, the title became an instant critical success when it launched. Looking back, I can say Brubaker's Captain America is one of Marvel's best comic book runs in the past decade. Before this I found the character pretty boring, but Brubaker hooked me in with this title.

Throughout Brubaker's run, he had done a lot of things to the title, including bringing Cap's sidekick Bucky back from the dead, killed Steve Rogers, made Bucky take the mantle of Cap, and then resurrecting Steve Rogers. With last week's issue #19, Brubaker bids farewell to the title.
